Plum Creek

Plum Creek is one of the largest landowners in the nation and the most geographically diverse, owning timberlands in more than a dozen states. Their primary business is to actively manage timberlands to capture the most value from every acre owned. That means owning timberlands in the most robust markets, making prudent investments in the growth of our timberland assets, and harvesting trees at the best "economically mature" point in their life cycle.

They manage their timberlands following sustainable forestry practices, and sell timber or logs to customers throughout the United States. Their customers manufacture a variety of wood, pulp and paper products that serve the everyday needs of people worldwide. By acquiring attractive timberlands and using advanced silviculture practices, they improve the productivity of their forests. This also improves the productivity of their timberland investments by purchasing timberlands that add to their timber inventory, harvest, and cash flow.

The company works to maximize the value of all its assets, which include timberland, wood products manufacturing facilities, and natural resources. Plum Creek is a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). Investing in a timber REIT is an ideal way to own timberlands. The company was the first publicly-traded timber REIT.
