I am an Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness with the LSU AgCenter. After my time participating in the 4-H Forestry Invitational, I went on to complete a B.S. and M.S. in Agricultural Economics at LSU and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri where I concentrated in concentrated in Rural Community Development.

The 4-H Forestry program and the National Invitational helped breed confidence in me that hard work and input invested into a particular program can pay dividends. It also helped to instill a sense of adventure. This adventure led me to get involved in conducting research in Ireland on community development. The research resulted in keeping a rural hospital in Northern Ireland open providing life-saving emergency care services. This venture also resulted in my getting to meet a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

On completion of my Ph.D., I returned to LSU and became part of the faculty in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness. I have attempted to give back to the forestry industry that provided me the opportunity to chase my dreams. In particular, I have published journal articles on value-added forestry supply chains in Louisiana as well as having students in my rural community development class calculate job and income multipliers for counties and parishes containing sawmills and paper mills.
